MY WHY

When college came around I snagged a job with my college marketing department, which in hindsight totally kick started my career. I started taking senior photos which turned into proposals then engagements and then weddings! The more chances I got to document the connection between two people the more I realized I had to make this into something more! We were made for CONNECTION. We quite literally can't do this life alone. As this beautiful journey began to unfold right in front of me, I realized there is nothing I enjoy more than spending time with my couples, getting to know their unique story and then running around documenting their love in the truest form! I've only fallen more in love with photography and the amazing people I get to meet along the way!

I’ve had a lifelong relationship with photography, starting when I was just a little girl. My first photos were taken with a polaroid, snapping pictures of anything and everything. I like to think my skills have evolved a bit since then! Later, I graduated to a point and shoot camera (with a front cam!!) and really thought I struck GOLD when I discovered selfies.

As I matured, I started turning to photography more as an outlet for self expression. I can’t tell you how therapeutic it was for me to be able to create visual representations of everything that was going on inside. Even when I struggled to find words to express myself, photography was an art I could always turn to. Looking back, I think this is when my childhood hobby really transformed into a deeper passion that I could use for expression of emotions and it brought so much joy.

Like so many others, I’ve always struggled with confidence, keeping up with beauty standards, and embracing myself fully. At some point it clicked that photography was something that I could use to help other women navigate those same feelings. Capturing a person’s raw beauty in photographs and seeing their face light up like, “wait, that’s me?!” will truly never get old. Sometimes it takes seeing ourselves on the other side of the camera to truly see what others see in us. That’s when I started my “I Am Beautiful” Campaign, inviting friends to be photographed while holding signs with uplifting messages around themes of beauty and self-love. My intention was to provide a special reminder to each of them, even on the worst days, that their beauty is powerful and ever-present.
